Greek War of Independence-Ibrahim Pasha’s Army

This is my take on Ibrahim Pasha’s Army for the Greek War of Independence.  It is based for Rebels and Patriots.  The figures are all from Minifigs Napoleonic Ottoman range.  I’ve included my categorisation of the troop types under the rules.  It’s informed guess work at best.  If you have other suggestions I’d be interested.

The light cavalry at 4 points 6 figures in the unit. A couple of officers and some Yoruk volunteers.

The Egyptian Regular Infantry.  Line Infantry on the European model. Aggressive Line Infantry at 5 points 12 figures in each unit.

I have two units of these and may do three.

Balkan Sharp Shooters.  Skirmish troops good shooters 6 figures per unit costing 4 points.

Provincial Sekhans.  Irregular infantry who can skirmish or fight hand to hand.  Categorised as aggressive natives who are poor shooters.  Costing 4 points with 12 figures per unit.

A light gun with crew and limber.  Costing 6 points.

I will probably add a couple of units of Albanian skirmishers of six figures each.  Ibrahim Pasha will then have choices about what sort of force to field.  As it stands I have 24 points worth that constitutes a side in Rebels and Patriots.

Anglo Sikh War irregulars and Gurkhas

This is the last lap for my Anglo-Sikh War Sikh collection.  Fittingly, there are figures from QRF, Black Hat (above) and Irregular Miniatures. In 15mm they are the big three. You can click the pics.

First, Khalsa regulars in the form of Sikh Gurkhas from Black Hat.

The rest are irregulars.  Some camel gunners from QRF.  These are from their Moghul range and I’d say they are best you can buy in 15mm.

A mixture of QRF Gorchurra cavalry.  These are the old Steve Shaw sculpts.

Sikh irregular artillery crew from Black Hat and guns from QRF.

Sikh irregular infantry mainly Black Hat with some from Irregular Miniatures.

I might add a unit or two to my Sikh Army just for fun.  Strictly speaking it’s job done.  I need two additional British units to finish that army too.  It has been a long journey and I think it will be finished just in time for the release of Field of Battle 3.

Where to Next?

Mostly, people do this sort of thing at the start of the New Year so I’m a bit late.  I thought I should say what sort of things I’ll be writing about and taking pics of for the rest of the year.  It’s an eclectic mix and stuff certainly won’t necessarily appear in perfect sequence.

New departures, more or less, will include the French and Indian War with Muskets and Tomahawks and the Italian Wars with Hell Broke Loose and Furioso.

There’s something else too.

Graham Evans is publishing his Tai Ping China Wars rules. You are probably already familiar with his 'To Ur' rules.  I have the Tai Ping and Manchu toys already so at the very least there will be a review and a game or two.

I’m also hoping to finally finish my Carlist War collection.

I’m just waiting for QRF to release the last batch of figures.  So, Carlist War action is probable.

The Irish Wars articles will continue because I’ve still got a lot more to say.  I’ll do the battles of Glenmalure and Kinsale. Then I want to write about a campaign year in Ireland-there was more to it than you might think.  Hopefully it can form the basis of a strategic campaign game. Speaking of games I intend to work my way through the battles we have looked at so far.

And speaking of battles  The War of Three Kings and Talon and Claw will be having some outings.

My interest in 19th Century India is perennial so there will be Sikh War and Mutiny stuff too.

In terms of big blog projects like the one on the Nine Years War in Ireland my next one will be Late Roman Britain and Ireland.  The first installment, titled The Western Frontier is already written and I've made a start on the second which is called The Attecotti, Saint Patrick and Macsen Wledig.  I like to have three done before I begin to publish the ideas flow better that way.

There may be other stuff too, because there always is.  A sudden enthusiasm or a resurrected project like my Greek War of Independence one.  We are all susceptible to it.

That’s as much as I can say for now.  I hope you continue to find things here that interest you-thanks for reading.
