QRF Wars of the Roses 15mm- A Review

We haven’t had a figure review here for ages. Under the influence of ‘Billhooks’ I bought a load of new toys from QRF.  They are rather jolly as you can see in the pic's below.  Let me tell you about them.

The first thing to say is that size wise, though a little slighter, they fit with both Legio Heroica infantry and Mirliton. Compatible with Peter Pig too, not on the same base though.  The sculpting is very good as is the animation.

Variety is also good.  The two archer packs will provide you with 6 different individual figures.

I counted 5 variants in my pack of Bill men advancing.  There’s also a pack of 5 various Bill men standing.

The foot command pack comes with a drummer and a piper, two different Men at Arms and four identical standard bearers.

Foot Men at Arms have, I think, 5 variants.  There may be more.

On to the cavalry.

There are 8 variants of Men at Arms, four with lance and four with hand weapon.  Plus, two nice command packs offering two different commanders, a trumpeter, herald and standard bearer.

The range of horses available, part armoured, with chamfron, full barded and what-not add to the variety.

There’s a pack of lighter horsemen too. With two variants.  It is enough.

The hand gunners and bombards and crew are fine figures in various poses too.  They are the start of my Burgundian Army

There’s a pack of mixed crossbow men too.  I may get some in my next order.

It’s been a while since I have been so uniformly pleased by a new range.  Should you be new to the period, or just seeking more figures, I heartily recommend them.  Lastly, at £2.70 a pack they are very competitively priced.  The discerning shopper can of course sign up for the QRF Newsletter and thereby qualify for a 10% discount.

  1. These rules have sure energized the WOTR period. Are QRF the same as Freikorps 15s figures?

  2. Same outfit Jonathan but a different range as it were. The classic old Freikorps figures are mostly smaller than the ones above.
