SYW Prussians- Artillery and Generals

Above we see King Frederick and the Duke of Bevern. Von Zieten stands by. Eureka figures.

The last battery. I have three in all. All from Old Glory 15mm.

Sundry Brigadiers from Blue Moon.

More Blue Moon Brigadiers.

A stern fellow from Eureka. Maybe Keith. What an interesting career he had. That's it, the Prussians are done and game ready.

Now to see what needs doing with the Austrians.  We should be seeing Duffy's second volume on the Austrian Army soon.  I'm looking forward to reading it and fair play to Helion for the reprint.

SYW Prussian Grenadiers

After a bit of hesitation I decided to repaint my Prussian Grenadiers.  Not really a big job.  Caps, cuffs, and linings.  Now my grenadiers match their parent Musketeer regiments.  They don’t represent any known combined grenadier battalion that I’m aware of.  I’ll live with that.  Above you see both battalions.  I think they look the part.

So, who is there?  Let’s take a closer look.

 Anhalt- Dessau first.

Next, Braunschweig.  Below, a combined battalion.

Von Kanitz.

Braunschweig-Bevern.

I mixed in a few Eureka figures to bring the numbers up.  The second combined battalion below.

Another job done.  Now for the Brigadiers and Generals and the last battery of artillery.  Then, amazingly, my SYW Pussian Army will be done.

SYW Austrian Dragoons in 15/18mm

Hot on the hooves of their Prussian opponents comes my first Austrian Dragoon brigade.  There will be a second smaller one subsequently.  All are from Blue Moon.  Let's see them in detail.

Erherzog Joseph, natty in green.

 Red coats next.

Jung- Modena above and below.

 Back to green again.

The Saint Ignon Dragoons above and below.

As you can see I took the opportunity to avoid painting more Austrian white coats.  The flags are from Wargames Designs.

Here's the brigade again.

I have two bags of Old Glory figures for the next brigade. You get a lad or two in Bearskin cap from Old Glory.  I’m not sure which regiments I’ll choose to do.  Probably Prinz Savoyen for one and perhaps a blue coat unit.

I had a look at my Prussian grenadiers.  Not bad but room for improvement.  Also the facings do not match those of my musketeer regiments. Enough to warrant a repaint.

There's not too much to it.  Re-painted cuffs, facings and caps will do the trick.  I also needed 6 additional figures to bring my second Grenadier unit up to strength.  After some humming and hawing I ordered them from Eureka. They are a tad taller than the Blue Moon fellows.  Regardless, I'll mix them in. I've made a start and will do the outstanding command figures while I'm at it.

My next SYW post then, will be the Austrian and Prussian Command a Prussian battery and the aforesaid grenadiers.

Also, my new Flodden Scots have turned up from QRF.  Much to do there.

SYW Prussian Dragoons in 15/18mm

Yes, a quick loop back to the SYW.

I have finished my Prussian Dragoons.  Above, you can see the whole brigade. The  dragoons were the missing cavalry component in my Prussian Army.  Another significant milestone passed.

All of the figures are from from Blue Moon.  Oddly, when I first got these figures I didn't like them.  Now I do.  Couldn't tell you why.  Tastes change?

Let's have a closer look at von Normann’s Dragoons.

In the same format.

Count zu Waldburg’s Dragoons.

Finally-

The von Blanckensee Dragoons.

Another shot of the brigade.

All three flags are from Kronoskaf.

I need to paint one last Prussian gun and crew, a couple of command figures and to decide as to whether my grenadiers are up to snuff or not.  Then that is the Prussian Army is complete.

That will probably warrant a blog parade.

We will see the Austrian dragoons next.

In other news I’m awaiting delivery of Brent Oman’s Battle Command rules.  "Bat Com" to the cognoscenti.  It looks very promising.  I'm tracking mine as it travels from the USA.
