The Ulster Brigade of the Irish Jacobite Army

The Earl of Antrim’s regiment above.  The Earl has equipped his fellows with pike and matchlock.  The Earl’s branch of the McDonald family had long gained from their association with the Stuart Kings.  Naturally enough, he raised a regiment for King James.  I’m rating it as Regulation and Drilled for Beneath the Lily Banners.

The O’Neill’s as the once dominant family of Ulster were keen to improve their life chances. They believed that this was best achieved by supporting the King and turned out in considerable numbers.  They raised three regiments of foot and one of dragoons.  The latter under Sir Niall O’Neill will appear later. Had the Jacobite cause succeeded, they would have expected the recovery of their lands.

Gordon O’Neill’s regiment here. It is a Drilled Regulation regiment equipped with pike and matchlock.

Felix O’Neill’s regiment is a Drilled Pike and Shot formation. A little old fashioned but willing and formidable in melee.  Their muskets are all matchlocks.

I'll mostly brigade these units together.

  1. Another two lovely units and with a nice bit of history too. Now that I've received my copy of BTLB:WotTK, your units make more sense.

  2. Yes, they started off as all four base units with the pikes integral. I rebased for BLB. I think you will enjoy BLB.
