Mamluks for Rebels and Patriots

Naturally enough American oriented  Rebels and Patriots don’t cover this troop type but I think the rules will cope with them easily enough.  Here's my take on how to rate them. All distances halved as I'm using 15mm.  All figures are from Lancashire Games.

The Mamluks were highly skilled and motivated cavalry in the Eastern Military tradition in Rebels and Patriots terms they are Veteran@+2, Aggressive @1 Shock Cavalry @6 which is fair enough considering they lost 2,500 men trying to break Napoleon’s infantry squares.  But they could also break into smaller units to skirmish.

At the cost of an additional point I intend to allow Mamluk Shock Cavalry to declare in any move it’s dividing into two units of Veteran, Aggressive Light Cavalry and in any subsequent move where both its constituent parts are in base to base contact to declare it’s reforming as Shock Cavalry.  This means Mamluk Cavalry are very expensive indeed at 10 points a unit.

There are three types of foot in Rebels and Patriots line infantry, light infantry and natives.  The Cairo Janissaries aren’t the first two so they will have to be natives.  Natives can be skirmishers or more melee oriented.

I’m going for aggressive @1 Natives @4 which looks like this and costs 5 points a unit.  I might pay another point for a large unit and add another 6 figures.

The Bedouin are Light Cavalry who like to shoot up the enemy before chancing it in melee.  Although very capable fighters they are not going to stick around if the going gets tough.  My Bedouin are going to be Green@-1, Aggressive@+1 Light cavalry@4 points which looks like this.
