ACW Union Infantry Brigades 15mm

You might recall, some months ago, that I set out on an ACW Rescue Project https://youdonotknowthenorth.blogspot.com/search/label/ACW?updated-max=2021-05-16T04:40:00-07:00&max-results=20&start=2&by-date=false.  It’s now bearing fruit.

I had started out with the intention of having 3 infantry brigades.  Now, it seems I’ll have 4 or more. You know all about how this happens, I need say no more.

Above and below, the Irish Brigade, Sun burst flags flying.  Mostly QRF with Minifigs command.

Very good figures I think.

Next the Brooklyn Chasseurs and the Fire Zouaves all QRF.  I’m tempted to do the final base of the latter in Havlocks.  A colourful bunch as Jeb Stuart observed.

Zouaves from QRF.

A generic brigade here, all QRF.

I really like these figures.  There's a Peter Pig officer in the mix.

A closer look.

Berdan's boys from QRF.

Command, mainly QRF with a couple of Peter Pig.

Coming up and to do the Iron Brigade using Minifigs and a Coloured Infantry Brigade.

So, more than 4 brigades.

Next, the Union Cavalry and Artillery.

    1. Thanks very much. I wanted to ensure they all had the same basing mix. It sort of brings them together as an Army.

  3. Those have come up a treat and the flags, as always, really make the units 'pop'. Looking forward to the next batch of figures:)

    1. Cheers Steve. Most of the flags are from War Flag. For the 'specialist' brigades I scoured the internet.

I found once you had the regimental name and number there were flags galore. Such is the level of interest in the ACW.

That's pretty much why I've ended up with more brigades than initially tended.

  4. All great looking units, but I especially love the Zouaves 👍

  5. Thanks for that. Those Zouaves must have been originally produced in the early 1980s. I guess that makes them veterans.

  7. Nice work! I would be very tempted to collect armies for the ACW if I did not have so many others sort of on the way. I would also be tempted to do ACW flags if I did not have more than enough work on the SYW! Life is sadly far too short and time in the day far too limited... So it's good to enjoy other periods vicariously in blogs like yours. Thanks!

    All the best,

    David.

  8. Thanks David, life is indeed too short. We just have to enjoy what we manage to fit in.
